Memorial Services for Lester J. Moore 88, were held July 26, 2006, 10:00a.m., at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. James Frazier and Mary Bates officiating. Mr. Moore passed away July 24, 2006. Mr. Moore was born June 4,1918,son of Gnendee Moore and Velma Jowers, both of Livingston. He was preceeded in death by both parents and one brother, Chester Moore,also of Livingston Mr. Moore's childhood years were spent in Polk County before enlisting in Civilian Conservation Corp., from 1940 to 1941. Before joining the U.S. Army from Feb. 11,1941 to Nov. 26, 1945. After the war , Mr. Moore joined the Merchant Marines until retired in 1981. Mr. Moore then became a very active member of the Polk County Museum and also the Sons of Confederate Veterans,VFW, and American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Tranquilina Moore of Livingston,children, Jim Moore, Knoxville,Tenn.,and wife Babara, Juan Moore, Livingston,Daughter,Maria Barrington,of Kingwood and husband Joe. Grandchildren, Christopher Moore, James Moore, of Tenn.,Chelsea Strokos of Jersey Village, Shanna Baker of Kingwood,Tx.,Tommy Saunders II, of Kingwood. Great Grandchildren,Brandon Strokos, of Jersey Village,Tx., Shelby Baker of Kingwood,Jenna Baker of Kingwood. Two Brothers, Marvin Moore, of Crosby, Tx., Glen Moore of Bastrop, Tx. Numerous other family, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Pace Funeral home was in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions mat be made to Polk County Museum, 514 West Mill, Livingston, Tx. 77351.
