Emily Louise Earthman, 80, of Amarillo died Monday, July 8, 2002.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Trinity Lutheran Church with Mark Cattau, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd.

Mrs. Earthman was born in Tamaqua, Pa., and married Clarke L. Earthman on Aug. 6, 1945. She graduated from Tamaqua Senior High School in 1939 and from Reading Hospital School of Nursing in Reading, Pa., in 1943.

She worked as a nurse at Northwest Texas Hospital for 33 years. She spent five of those years in the newborn nursery and 28 years teaching pediatrics at Northwest Texas Hospital School of Nursing.

She received a bachelor of science degree in nursing from West Texas State University in 1974 and a master of science degree in nursing from University of Texas at Austin in 1979.

She taught home and family living classes at Tascosa High School and prenatal classes at Northwest Texas Hospital. Since the death of her husband, she has been actively involved as an outreach volunteer for Widowed Persons Service, a local program reaching out to the newly bereaved. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 9, 1993.

Survivors include a son, James Earthman of Amarillo; a daughter, Linda McIntosh of Canyon; four brothers, Franklin Loew, William Loew, Edgar Loew and Jack Loew, all of Pennsylvania; a sister, Elizabeth Pettiet of Houston; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Trinity Lutheran Church or School, or Widowed Persons Service of Amarillo.
