29627 Driver A A Burrell, 69th Battery, Royal Field Artillery. The battery was brought from India to Natal before the war started started and fought, along with the 13th and 67th Batteries, at Talana Hill on 20 Oct 1899 and at Lombard's Kop on 30 Oct 1899. They were in Ladysmith throughout the siege. Early in the recuperation period following the relief of Ladysmith, Driver Barthrop fell ill and died of dysentery at the Intombi Military Hospital, Ladysmith. He was buried in Intombi cemetery. He is also commemorated on the Royal Artillery Boer War memorial on the corner of Horse Guards Parade and the Mall, at the north-east corner of St James Park, London, England (see: https://www.warmemorialsonline.org.uk/memorial/112037).
