Cy was born May 11, 1929 in Fort Worth, Texas. The son of C.B., Sr. and Flora Adele Baird. He graduated from Paschal High School in 1946 where he lettered in multiple sports. Cy graduated from Rice University with a BA in 1950.
Following graduation, Cy returned to Fort Worth and married Myrna Joy Craig and had four children. Cy began his career teaching in the Fort Worth ISD. After receiving his Masters of Education from TCU, Cy became the Principal at the first air-conditioned school in Fort Worth, J.P. Moore.
Cy loved summer trips to Gunnison, Colorado. He loved the outdoors and particularly fly fishing the many rivers and streams in the area. He also enjoyed winter and spring trips to South Padre Island.
Cy served on various boards in the Fort Worth community including: the management committee for the Central YMCA of Fort Worth, Director on the Community Council of Fort Worth, and Director on the Mrs. Baird's Bakery Board of Directors.
Cy was very philanthropic through his own foundation and in being the founding donor of the Ninnie L. Baird Foundation. He also had an affinity for the arts and was an avid supporter of the Gunnison Arts Center.
Cy was most proud of his children and grandchildren and all their accomplishments. He loved attending their sporting events and taking them to get ice cream.
Survivors: Cy is survived by his brother, Byron Baird, his wife, Marilyn, and their sons Ross and Steven; daughter, Becky Barber, son, Craig Baird and wife Carrie, son, Bruce Baird and wife Laura, daughter, Cindy Beall and husband, John; grandchildren Flora Baird, Hunter Baird and wife Lindsey, Margaret Lynn and husband Doug, Parker Beall, Keagan Beall and wife Kellie, Haylee Train, Tara Barber, Cooper Baird and Colton Baird; great grandchild Adele Baird.
The family will hold a private ceremony to honor Cy.
