OBITUARY published on November 5, 1936:
"LATE MILES VAN-LUVEN
The news of the death of Mr. Miles Van Luven came as a shock to his many friends in town and district on Sunday last. While he had not been in the best of health for the past couple of years he had been around and was down town on Saturday as usual but early Saturday evening suffered a stroke, from which he failed to rally and passed away on Sunday morning, in his 68th year. The funeral took place to Uxbridge cemetery on Tuesday, November 3rd, services being held at his late residence by Rev. Mr. Olmstead, a former pastor and Rev. Mr. Owen of Unionville.
The late Miles Van Luven was born on September 3rd, 1869, on the 6th concession of Uxbridge township, a son of the late Elijah and Almira Van Luven and resided in Uxbridge township and town all his days.
He married Miss Sarah A. Mitchell who with one daughter, Mrs. Earl Long is left to mourn the death of a kind and loving husband and father. One brother Silas of Newmarket is the sole remaining member of the family of five brothers and three sisters.
For many years Miles worked for the late Robert Jones and later with the Uxbridge Hardware Co., and he was a member of United Church as well as being for many years a member of the Canadian Order of Foresters, Uxbridge L. O. L. and Zeredatha Lodge No. 220 A.F. & A.M. and a member of Uxbridge Fire Brigade.
The sympathy of a large circle of friends and acquaintances is extended to the bereaved family in their loss."
