Aga Mae Dixon was born April 14, 1916, to William Hester Dixon and Lucy Eunice Blasingame at Mabank, Texas. Mae graduated from Mabank, Texas High School in 1932. She attended Parkland Hospital Nursing School in Dallas, Texas graduating in 1936. Mae went to work for the Missouri Kansas Texas Railroad as a nurse in Temple, Texas, making $90./month. She later moved to Ft. Collins, Colorado and then accepted a job with the V. A. Medical Center in Denver, CO, where she worked for 33 years.
It was here that Mae met the love of her life, Harlan Niedermyer, and they were married at St. Johns Lutheran Church on November 24, 1951, in Denver, Colorado. She and Harlan transferred to Hot Springs, SD, V. A Medical Center in 1967 and retired in 1976.
She was an active member in Bethesda Lutheran Church, NARFE, Red Hats, The Westerners, American Legion Auxiliary and past member of American Nurses Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan February, 2020, parents, 1 Sister, Lena Jones and husband, Mason; 2 Brothers, Byron Dixon and wife, Pauline and William Dixon and wife, Bess, and 1 nephew, Robert Jones.
She is survived by two nieces ; one nephew and a very dear friend/caretaker, "C.B.", dear friends "N.B.", "D" and "K", "H.S.", "L.E."as well as a host of friends.
Memorial Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 30, 2021, at Pine Hills Retirement Community dining room.
Committal services will be held at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
A memorial may be made to Bethesda Lutheran School or your choice.
