Leo V. Overby, age 84, Fargo, died Tuesday, November 2, 2004, in MeritCare Palliative Care Unit, Fargo.
Leo V. Overby was born December 14, 1919, in Fosston, MN, the son of Joseph and Cindy Overby. He grew up in East Grand Forks, MN, where he attended school. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1942. He served in the Philippines and New Guinea. Following his discharge in 1946, he moved to the Fargo-Moorhead area. He worked as a mechanic in the F-M area. He was united in marriage to Irene Forness on June 1, 1941, in Moorhead, MN. She died in 1971. Leo and Alvin Carlson founded F-M Forklift in February 1970. He married Anne Lien Nelson in Moorhead on May 5, 1972. He retired in 1986 and sold the business to his sons. The couple spent winters in Mesa, AZ.
Leo was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Anne of Fargo; his son, Robert (Sheila) of Fargo; one stepson, Bob (Diane) Nelson of Fargo; one stepdaughter, Norma (Alan) Kleingartner of West Fargo; his daughter-in-law, Lynne Overby Olds of Northfield, MN; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Vernon; two sisters, and one brother.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
