David Lee Worthen, our Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Uncle, and Friend peacefully returned home on July 20, 2021. David was born May 11, 1933 in Huntington, California to Leo C. and Florence (Ottley) Worthen. His father was a brick mason and contractor, and the family moved often, living in several states.

Dave served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the North Central States. This experience was refining. He took genuine interest in everyone he met and is remembered by so many for his kindness, and caring that made many lifelong friends along the way. He loved helping people, getting to know them, talking to them, and listening.

After his mission, he joined the Air Force, training as a pilot. While home on leave in Albuquerque, New Mexico, he met NaDene Skinner, his younger sister's best friend. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity on August 19, 1960.

Dave was an accomplished fisherman and hunter. There were many camping trips to the Uintas, Wyoming, Alaska, and Canada. He dearly loved Marsh Lake. Teaching his children and grandsons how to fish was paramount. He had a deep respect for animals and nature, and was a skilled outdoorsman. He was always getting the trailer ready for the next trip.

He enjoyed doing "Projects," working with wood, and around the house. He made clocks, planters, shelves, tables, and pinewood derby cars – if it wasn't perfect the first time, he made two or three more until it was.

Dave had many accomplishments throughout his life. He graduated from East High School, served in the Air Force, and attended the University of Utah. He was a valued employee at Ottley Flooring for over 40 years, and loved working with members of his extended family as well as dear friends.

A love for travel resulted in he and NaDene making many trips across Utah, to Santa Fe, Jackson, and to Texas to "See some grandkids..."

He and NaDene are the loving parents of Debra (Paul) Oldroyd, and David Michael Worthen, grandchildren, Andrew (Grace) Oldroyd, Daniel Lee (Tessa) Oldroyd, Samuel (Kinsey) Oldroyd, Collin Worthen, Zachary (Lindsey) Worthen, Nicholas (Katerina) Worthen, and 7 great-grandchildren. Dave was preceded in death by his beloved NaDene, son David, parents, and sisters Florence "Bonnie," and Suzanne.

His legacy lives on in the family that remembers his example of persistence, and cherished memories.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 26 at 10:00 am at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St., Midvale, with a viewing one hour prior to services. Interment, Mountain View Cemetery, Beaver, Utah.
