Carl Ray Baldwin of Stillwater passed peacefully on July 19, 2021. He was 67 years old.
A eulogy will be given by Tyler Ley.
Carl's life both began and ended in Stillwater. He was born on October 8, 1953 to Imogene (Haskett) Baldwin and Carol Don Baldwin, and was the second eldest of five children.
Carl was a graduate of Oklahoma State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology in 1976. He worked in the electrical wholesale business throughout his adulthood until he retired in December 2020, and both literally and figuratively brought light to the people he came in contact with. Carl had a way of making those in his life feel special, and was skilled at connecting with people quickly and helping them to feel comfortable. Once someone became friends with Carl, they were typically a friend for life.
Carl was a proud father and an even prouder grandpa, and framed or displayed just about every photo or newspaper article that featured someone in his family. He has always enjoyed gathering with friends and family, live music, going on trips, and attending sporting events, but he also was fond of spending a comfortable evening at home. He attended the Indy 500 with friends annually for a ten year period when he was younger, and was an avid fan of Oklahoma State, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Los Angeles Dodgers. When he lived in Tulsa in the late 1990s through 2009, he loved volunteering for concerts and events at Riverwalk Tulsa.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father.
He is remembered with love by his daughter, Jessica Ley, his son-in-law Tyler Ley, and his grandchildren Ethan and Isabel Ley, all of Stillwater; his dear friend Diana Bordier of Tulsa; sister Karen Moore of Stillwater; sister Teresa Boyles (Matt) of Perkins; brother David Baldwin (Lisa) of Stillwater; brother Richard Baldwin (Sandy) of Stillwater; his first wife Susan Lash of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, as well as many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, cousins, and many friends.
