Daughter of Clark and Clara Meredith Potter, she was widowed, lived at 142 Meadville Pike, Franklin, rural Sugarcreek Township, died in Franklin Hospital of arteriosclerosis, per death certificate 93907, whose informant was Mrs. J. Clark Aiken of the same address. Buried Oct 13 1956.

Per Pennsylvania Marriage License, on May 31 1894 in Clarion County, Joe M. Aiken of Buck Tree, a farmer, 27, born in Corsica, PA, son of Joseph and Ellen Aiken, married Hila J. Potter of Clarion County, 20, born in Strattanville, daughter of Henry and Clara Potter; first marriage for both.

Franklin News-Herald, Friday, Oct 12 1956:
Mrs. Hila J. Reed, 82, who made her home with her daughter-in-law, Mrs. J. Clark Aiken, 142 Meadville Pike, died at 7 pm Thursday in Franklin Hospital, where she'd been about 12 days. Daughter of Clark and Clara Meredith Potter, she was born in Strattanville April 7, 1874. She made her home with the Aikens the past 27 years.

She was twice married, first to Job Aiken, then to Lewis Reed, who died in 1929.

Surviving is a son, Frank M. Aiken, Franklin; and 15 grandchildren. A son, J. Clark Aiken, died Oct. 23, 1955.

Services will be at 10 am Saturday at Barron Chapel with Rev. Howard D. Rose, pastor of Phillipsburg Free Methodist Church, and Rev. Harry Roushey, pastor the Free Methodist Church. Interment will be in Rehoboth Cemetery.
