John Delf Boydstun died at Texas Methodist Hospital in Bedford, Texas on the evening of July 16, 2021. He was 86 years old. He lived in Colleyville, Texas and died of a heart attack.
He was born on September 21, 1934, in Washita, Caddo County, Oklahoma. He was born to John Calvin Boydstun and Clara Hazel (Meek)Boydstun. He spent his childhood in Washita.
He then went into the Marines. He was in the first boatload to return from the Korean War. He then went to Southwestern State College in Weatherford, Oklahoma.
He went on to teach high school math and science for 7 years in Lovelock, Nevada and drove the school bus every year between Emily and Lovelock. He met his wife, Alice Lynne (Powell), in the lunch room, at the school cafeteria, in January. They were married on July 19, 1963, in Carson City, Nevada.
He loved to ride horseback every weekend in the mountains until the FBI recruited him. He worked as a Special Agent in Houston, Texas (1 year), San Diego, California (11 years), and Woodward, Oklahoma (8 years). After he retired from the FBI, he went into the oil and gas business while staying in Woodward. He moved to Colleyville, Texas in 2016.
He loved to hunt and made sure he went on a big hunting trip every year, usually to Wyoming. He helped his friend, John Stine, his main hunting partner, farm, and together they went into the oil business.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served as branch president of the Woodward Branch for 7 years. He was also instrumental in helping the Genealogy Society of Utah microfilm the early genealogical records of 37 counties in Oklahoma. He had a great sense of humor and always knew how to light up a room. He was the most gentle man that his son, John, ever knew. He was loved by all who knew him.
He is survived by his spouse, Alice Lynne (Powell) Boydstun, his children- John Leslie Boydstun and Calvin Edward Boydstun (Rebecca Emily Forsyth), and grandchildren- Kaylee (Matthew Kendell), Abby (Nathan Petersen), Benjamin Joseph, Tyler (Olivia McPheeters), Alexander John Boydstun, and Sofia Claire Boydstun.
