Keith Carter aka The General, 68, of Wade, MS passed away on Monday, July 19, 2021 in Wade. Keith was born June 26, 1953 in Pascagoula, MS to the late E.V. and Hilda Carter. He worked for 35 years with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks until his retirement, prior to that he worked for the Magnolia Hunting Club for 9 years. He was Officer of the Year multiple times for the state and was Southeast Regional Officer of the Year in 1999. He was also the recipient of the Crime Stoppers Award. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed yard work and running catfish lines. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and many friends.
Keith is survived by his children, Christi (Wayne) Tillman, Kayla (James) DeSalvo and Tyler Carter; grandchildren, Sarah, Wyatt, Elleona, Carter, Jaton, and Camden; sisters, Donna V. (Howard) Davis, Tanya (Rick) Donnelly, and Vickie (Al) Greenough; nephews, Justin (Brooke) Sward, Cory Greenough and Matthew (Carly) Greenough; his cat Tobi; along with other family members and many friends.
The visitation for Keith will be held Friday, July 23, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Magnolia Springs Assembly of God Church 7300 Campground Rd. Moss Point, MS 39562. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the church beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Gene Emswiler officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Caswell Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery with Ronnie Castille, Joel Tanner, Doyle Bond, Keith Bond, Phillip Thomas, Eddie Mackie, Doug Adams, and Mickey Powell serving as pallbearers. Honary pallbearers will be the Mississippi Dept. Of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks District 6, the Jakson County Sheriffs Dept., Toby Ray Parker, Lonnie Porter, Mike Golf and H.W. Parker.
Heritage Funeral Home, locally owned and operated in Escatawpa/Moss Point, MS is in charge of arrangements.
