Virginia Layne Nicely, age 95, of 3320 Longdale Station Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Monday, July 19, 2021 at the Brian Center Health and Rehab Center, Low Moor.
She was born April 24, 1926 in Rockbridge County, Virginia to the late Joshua William Layne and Fannie Bell Sweet.
She was a homemaker throughout her life and a member of Central Advent Christian Church, where she was in the Marantha Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Wilson Nicely, Sr.; a son, Steven Norman Nicely; four brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by a son, Theodore Wilson Nicely, Jr. and wife, Dottie of Clifton Forge; four grandchildren, T. W. Nicely III, Billy Wayne Nicely, William Louis Nicely, and Steven N. Nicely, Jr.; eight great grandchildren, Morgan, Grace, Zack, Anthony, Kaylee, Marlie, Benson and Aubrey; two step great grandchildren, Austin and Brena; a great great grandson, Jhett; a daughter-in-law, Susie Nicely; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Gene Ayers officiating. Interment will follow in Central Advent Christian Cemetery, Clifton Forge. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at Nicely Funeral Home.
