Wallace C. Anderson, 92, of Jamestown passed away Friday (August 16, 2019) in Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing, Gerry, NY.

A lifelong area resident he was born November 23, 1926 at home in the town of Ellery, the son of the late Marvin and Amelia Ohman Anderson.

Wallace was a graduate of Bemus Point High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII from 1944 to 1946 in the Pacific Theater. He was a dairy farmer, plasterer, and he was employed by the US Postal Service for 30 years retiring in 1990.

He was a member of the former Immanuel Lutheran Church where he was a long-time usher and also served on the Church Council. He belonged to Immanuel's Men's Group; and the Civil War Preservation Trust. Wallace enjoyed spending time with his family, playing frisbee, telling jokes, hunting, wood working and gardening. In retirement he and Norma travelled the United States, including many Civil War sites, and visited their children often.

Surviving are two sons: Stuart Anderson (Marcy) of Otego and Gregory Anderson of Ithaca, NY; a daughter Amy Anderson (James Ball) of Falls Church, VA, as well as three grandsons: Gregory and Ross Anderson (Aileen), and Joseph Ballanderson; one granddaughter, Jeannine Ballanderson; and one great-grand daughter, Hailey Malloy Anderson.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Norma Jean Sandberg Anderson whom he married September 27, 1958, who died April 9, 2016; and his two older brothers, Stanley and Manley Anderson.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday (August 19, 2019) in the Falconer Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home. Rev. Nancy Schwanke will officiate. Burial will be in Fluvanna Cemetery. A reception will be held at Heritage Skilled Nursing Facility from 1:30 to 4 pm.

Memorials may be donated to the Alzheimer's Association.
