REST IN PEACE..

There comes a time when those whom we have loved the longest and the best will travel ahead to a place of rest. On Nov. 16, 2007, Mrs. Ozelle Frances Dobbs Day found peace and comfort in the embrace of her Lord. Mrs. Day died at home with her favorite granddaughter and caregiver, Dora "Ellen" Flowers Sapp, by her side.
Funeral services will be today, November 18, 2007, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with Chaplain Rich Thompson officiating. Visitation will be held today, two hours prior to the service. Burial will be in the Mount Tabor Cemetery.
Ozelle was born September 29, 1911, in Waco, Texas, the youngest of six children born to Ida and Will Dobbs. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Day, one son, Kenneth, her brothers, Ira and Herbert Dobbs, sisters, Annie Mae Couey, Ethel Eason and Lorene Cryer, and one grandson, Danny Flowers.
Mrs. Day was a member of the Gum Springs Baptist Church for 80 years. In 2002, the church dedicated their services to honor her 75 years of continuous membership. She retired from Goodyear Tire Company. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling and visiting with her many friends at the Senior Citizens Center,
Her goal in life was to be a good mother, share kindness and comfort for everyone she knew. She will be remembered for all the times she made a difference in the lives of others.
She is survived by her children, JoAnne Flowers of Hartselle, Jimmy Day and wife, Dean, of Muscle Shoals, and Louise Bone of Florence; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be Edward "Pete" Ward, H.L. Dobbs, Doris Dobbs, Larry Sivley, Ben Chunn and Howard Johnson.
The family would like to express appreciation to Hospice of the Valley, the Chaplain, the nurses and caregivers, for love shown to their mother during her illness.
In lieu of flowers, friends may make donations to the Gum Springs Baptist Church, or Hospice of the Valley.
