She was born on July 8, 1929, and was the daughter of the late William Henry Jewell and Mary Elizabeth Hagerman Jewell.
Ruby started teaching school when she was 18 years old. She worked for Buchanan County Schools for 45 years and was the Librarian at Whitewood High School when she retired July 1, 1992. She always said, "I didn't have a student that I didn't love". Her hobbies were cooking, baking, antiques, shopping, estate sales. She was an excellent cook and loved baking for her friends and relatives. She organized and hosted the annual Whitewood School Reunion for many years. She loved being able to visit with her former students and fellow teachers. She attended Bible Baptist Church at Pilgrims Knob. Ruby was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Herman Fuller; Brothers: John Jewell, A B (Buck) Jewell, William (Bill) Jewell, James Oliver Jewell, Elbert Jewell, Eugene Jewell, Roy Jewell, Charles Jewell; Sisters, Watie J. Collins, Madge J Cole, and Naomi J Bullion.

Her son, Harold Herman (Buddy) Fuller and wife Patty of Whitewood, VA

The funeral service for Ruby Jewell Fuller Keen will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Pastor Hobart Kennedy officiating. Interment will be at Jewell-White Cemetery on Friday, July 23, 2021, on White Mountain at 11:00 am. Visitation will be on Thursday evening at 6 pm with funeral at 7 pm.
