Richard "Dick" Eugene Wilson, 72, of Cainsville, MO, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Liberty Hospital due to complications from surgery. He was born on November 7, 1948 at St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City, MO, the son of Lawrence and Madeline "Booth" Wilson. He graduated Turner Highschool in 1966. Then attended Junior college in Kansas City, Kansas before joining the Navy in 1967 - 1971. He attended basic training and service schools in Great Lakes N.T.C. Chicago, Illnois. S.E.R.E Training Little Creek, Virginia. Served one year in Vietnam with River Divisions 532, 533, 534, 535 as a Radio Operator. TRC cu Special Forces Camp. Two and a half years sea duty on U.S.S. Sioux ATF 75. During his time in the service he visited Vietnam, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Guam, Australia, Mexico, Panama, Philipines and Thailand. Following Vietnam, he was an Army reservist for a short time.

He married the love of his life, his princess, Suzanne Dake, on June 28, 1969 at Wesley United Methodist Church, in Kansas City, Kansas. He worked for Hallmark Cards, Earp Meat Foods and Radio Shack. After he retired, he was the Mayor of Cainsville MO from 2011 until the time of his passing.

Richard served his country, his family and his community. He was a lifelong member of Cainsville American Legion Post 257, Princeton VFW Post 7159, Cainsville Betterment Committee, a board member of First Christian Church of Cainsville, National Audubon Society, ARRL - Amateur Hamm Radio Club. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, rock hunting, playing with his grandkids, telling "dad" jokes, playing the bones and reading. Richard and Suzanne enjoyed traveling, going out driving, listening to music, dancing and always being a matching pair.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Madeline "Booth" Wilson.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne "Dake" Wilson of 52 years. His sister, Vickey "Wilson" Rowland of Blue Springs, MO. His three children, Richie, (Sarah) Wilson of Lathrop, MO, Shannon, (Rickey) Williams of Richmond MO, James Wilson of Cainsville, MO. Seven grandsons, Liam, Drew, Colby, Chase, Hayden, Elijah, Riley and three granddogs.
