Byrl L Brackett, 87, of Eufaula, Oklahoma, passed away on July 14, 2021, surrounded by his loved ones at the Jack C Montgomery VA Hospital.
Byrl was born on May 11, 1934, in Stidham, Oklahoma, the son of Carl W. Brackett and Dona (Whisenhunt) Brackett. Byrl attended Stidham High School and served in the Army during the Korean War; after his military service, he received his Associate's Degree from Conners State College. He later attended Spartan School of Aeronautics and pursued a lifelong career as an aircraft mechanic and rancher. After retiring from American Airlines, Byrl enjoyed restoring old tractors, watching basketball, and reading "cowboy" books out on his patio. Byrl was known within the family for his quick wit, lively conversation, love of chocolate gravy, and big heart.
On May 19, 1956, Byrl married Verna Lee Pollard of Eufaula, Oklahoma; the couple was married for 65 years. The couple had three daughters, Cathy Rippy (Cat), Sandra Frix (San), and Tamara Brackett (Tam).
Survivors include his wife Verna of the home, his daughters, Cathy Rippy of Stidham Oklahoma, Sandra Frix of Eufaula Oklahoma, and Tamara Brackett of Tulsa, Oklahoma; four grandchildren Doug Rippy, Jill Worden, Haylee Fix, and Geoffrey Frix; three great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Cilia, and Kye.
He is preceded in death by six sisters Gladys Womack, Vera Sutton, Rosie James, Retha Edwards, Novice Brackett, and Gearlene Hearod; four brothers Willard Brackett, Dale Brackett, Sam Brackett, Carl Brackett Jr., and numerous nieces and nephews.
