Louisa was a short but strong woman. She lived a hard life, worked so hard. Louisa buried 3 infants (in death), at 53 became a widow, buried her two beloved oldest sons and 2 adult daughters. Her remaining four children: Leona, Elmer, Ev and Fay were able to say goodbye to her 5 months short of her 102nd birthday, her mind was as sharp as a tack.
Louisa was the last link to 'the old world', her hometown in Rockenhausen, Germany as she had always kept in correspondence (she wrote and spoke German) with cousins and relatives who remained there. When she passed, that link was gone until around 2011 when a great grand daughter had re-established the link via Facebook, now 4 generations later.
Louisa was a special woman.
