Mr. George Ervin Ramsey; age 89, passed away on Saturday after a brief illness. A native of Ledford, Georgia and Charleston, South Carolina he was a resident of Jacksonville Beach, Florida.

George was born March 16, 1917 to Leon Earl and Daisy Elizabeth Ramsey. He died on Saturday, February 3, 2007 at the Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.

Mr. Ramsey was a World War II combat veteran and served his country for 31 years in the United States Coast Guard. He served from 1939-1970 and retired as a Chief Petty Officer.

George enjoyed working on cars for people and visiting with his friends and family. He was a life long member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and the Shrine.

Mr. Ramsey was predeceased by his wife, Myra Elizabeth Ramsey and daughter, Barbara Kay Collier, brother, Harry and sisters, Eudelle and Aileen.

Mr. Ramsey was survived by his sons, George L. Ramsey (wife: Michaelyn), of Jacksonville, FL. and Robert Ramsey (wife: Karen), of Fox Island, WA., daughter Ann Moratore (husband: Joe) of Jesup, GA., his beloved Sister Mary Church of Niceville, FL.; five grandchildren, George Ashlee Ramsey, Thomas Anthony Ramsey, Jessica Marie Ramsey, Beth Michelle Baker husband: Harry), Susan Kay Osburn (husband: Todd), Patrick Collier and Michael Collier and 9 great grandchildren.

The family stated, "It was our Father's request that he be buried at sea, from a USCG cutter. Daddy was deeply loved by all his family and he will remain in our hearts forever." In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to any area Shrine or Masonic organization in his name. Family and friends were able to sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com.
