ASU Ex-Professor Mrs. Margery Coles, 70, who had been professor of childrens literature for 11 years at Arizona State University, died yesterday at SL Joseph's Hospital.

Mrs. Coles, 537 W. Granada, had been dean of women at Aberdeen College in South Dakota and taught high school in her native Chicago. SHE MOVED to Phoenix in 1954 from Minneapolis.

She was a member of the Phoenix Art Museum Guild and the PEO Sisterhood, Chapter A.J. She was a member of the First Congregational Church here, where she was a vice president of the Women's Fellowship, a circle chairman, and was on the board of missions.

Mrs. Coles was graduated from Yankton College and received her master's degree from the University of Chicago. She was a member of the board of directors of Yankton College.

Survivors include her husband Fred S.; a son, Harold, of Redding, Calif.; two sisters, out of state; a grandchild, and two great-grandchildren.

SERVICES will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Grimshaw's Bethany Chapel, 710 W. Bethany Home. Cremation will follow. Friends may call at the mortuary after 3 p.m. tomorrow. The family suggests contributions to Maricopa County Heart Association.
