Ellen Catherine Bossi, 94 of Arkansas City died Thursday, July 8, 2021 at the Presbyterian Manor in Arkansas City.
A graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 7, 2021 at the Springside Cemetery in Arkansas City.
Catherine was born October 31, 1926 in Arkansas City to Gertrude (Tipton) and Vincent V. Bossi. She graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1943, Arkansas City Junior College in 1945, the University of Kansas in 1947 and KU's Laboratory Tech program in 1948. Catherine was a Registered Medical Technologist (CLS) in the Special Hematology Laboratory at KU Medical Center her entire professional career of 42 years. She was a supervisor of the laboratory also doing bench work, she taught many MT student and was an instructor in Pathology. Catherine was a member of St. Pauls' Episcopal Church in Kansas City, MO and life member of KU Alumni Association. She especially enjoyed her travels to many foreign countries, post retirement morning walks in the parks in the KC Plaza area, watching sports, reading, and family visits. She was a true-blue KU basketball fan. She moved from her condo a few blocks from the Plaza in Kansas City, MO to Arkansas City in the fall of 2019.
Catherine is survived by her sister, Berneice Southcott of Santa Monica, CA; brothers, Jim Bossi, Frank Bossi and wife, Helen all of Arkansas City; Tom Bossi and wife, Sue of Winfield; her dearly loved nieces and nephews, Cathy Miller and husband, Randy, Mike Bossi and wife, Kelly, Carol Mackey and husband, Brent, John W. Bossi and wife, Julie, Mark Bossi and wife, Beth, Pat Dermid, Joe Dermid; niece in law, Mary Sword Brumback; numerous great nieces and nephews, including Jenna and Justin Bossi of Arkansas City, Joe and John Mackey of Winfield and close cousins, Dorothy Faidley and Belva Gardner of Arkansas City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John V. Bossi and Joe Bossi; sisters, Alice Brumback Eggeman and Mary Dermid,; nephew, Rick Brumback; nieces, Sarah Henry, Susan Lyon and Mary Alice Brumback; sister in laws, Norma Bossi and Arlene Bossi.
