Columbus, Georgia - CSM (Ret) Clarence "Bill" John Martin, 90, of Columbus, died on August 20, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 1 pm at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.
Mr Martin, son of the late Clarence C Martin and Vasti Vance Martin, was born March 6, 1926 in Portland, Indiana.
He served our country honorably as Command Sergeant Major in the US Army serving during WW II and Vietnam before retiring after 30 years.
Mr Martin was Assistant Director for Financial Aid at Troy University for many years. He was a member at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Columbus, GA.
Mr Martin is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Elisabeth Martin; children, Michael Martin, Maria Martin, Gwen Martin Redmond (T R), Lydia Martin Bush (Michael); grandchildren, Tiffany Head (Randy), Erin Black (Chris), Tim Redmond, Elora Tucker (Cameron), Elisabeth Bush; great grandchildren, Alex, Shannon, and Maryann Head, Ava, and Oliver Redmond, Sidney and Hudson Black; brother, Royce Martin; sister, Gwen McDaniel; and several nieces and nephews.
