Gertrude graduated from Misericordia School of Nursing and Jersey City State College. From 1944 to 1945, Gertrude served as a nurse in the Army in World War II.
Gertrude was married to the late William Airo. She is survived by her sons, William Airo and James Airo; daughter, Kathleen Jones; and grandchildren, Joseph Buczynski, Noelle Airo, Renee Airo, Brittany Broda, and Ryan Airo.
