Robert E. Whitworth, 89, passed away on March 2, 2010, at his home in Belton, Mo. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. at Spring Valley Baptist Church at 8801 79th St., Raytown, Mo., on Saturday, March 6. A memorial service will be held at the church at 2 p.m. immediately following the visitation. Bob was born to Myrtle and Joe Whitworth in Sweet Springs, Mo., where he spent his childhood. Bob married Charlotte Tomlin, and they were happily married for 56 years. Bob retired from Bendix after 30 years of service and also retired as a captain of the KCMO Police Department with 25 years of service. For several years after retirement, Bob continued to work as a security officer at area hospitals. Bob and Charlotte were members of Spring Valley Baptist Church for over 50 years. Bob had a passion for baseball and enjoyed traveling to the Royals spring training camps each year. He also enjoyed camping and spending time with his family. Bob and Charlotte were very active, even playing on a volleyball team well into his 70s. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; nine brothers and sisters; one son, Robert Whitworth, and one grandson, Ryan Whitworth. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; two sons, Jim Whitworth and Phil (Guy) Whitworth; three daughters, Gail Christopherson, Glenda Christopherson, and Gwen Russell; 10 grandchildren, Debbie Varner, Katherine Whitworth, Phillip Christopherson, Christin Russell, David Whitworth, Lauren Christopherson, Collin Russell, Paul Whitworth, Sara Hebblethwaite and Cole Christopherson. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Good Shepherd Hospice. (Arr.: D.W.
