Fredie (Fred) Lee Vinson, age 86 of Bristol, TN and formerly of Hillsville, VA passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021 at Christian Care Center of Bristol, TN, after suffering with Parkinson's. He was the son of the late Dan Vinson & Zelda Vinson Bowman. Fred was a 1951 graduate of Hillsville High School. He also received a Diploma from a four-year Machinist School and one from a year of photography class. He served his Country from 1955-1958 in the U.S. Army in Frankfort, Germany. In September 1958, he was hired at the Raytheon Missile Company in Bristol, TN as a machinist, where he worked for 35 years. His hobbies were fishing, photography and bike riding where he sometimes rode 100 miles per day. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ina Vinson; two brothers, Rush Vinson & Dana, and Howard Vinson. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Vera Dawn Bowman Vinson; two nephews, Charles Vinson and Randy Vinson; two nieces, Sara Vinson Hill and Renay Vinson Taylor; great nephew, Scott Hill; great niece, Tracey Hill Shockley; four great nieces, Mary Beth Hill, Kayla Shockley, Kristen Shockley, and Rowan Taylor. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Scott Hardy officiating. Burial will follow in the Gladesboro Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 12, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel.
