William Winsel Salmon, age 86, of Crockett passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2021 in the Kingwood HCA Hospital. He was born December 8, 1934 in Grapeland to parents, William Fred Salmon and Alice Maude Baker Salmon. Winsel's first and only job was with Collins Ford Tractor as a mechanic where he retired after 43 years of service. Winsel loved his family and was so pleased when his great-grandson was born to carry on the family name. He was of the Baptist faith.

Winsel is survived by daughter, Sheila Ross and husband, Frank of Crockett; son, Rodney Salmon and wife, Polly of Crockett; grandchildren, Jordon Ross of Crockett, Jonathan Ross and wife, Isabel of Magnolia, Hunter Salmon of Crockett, Ty Salmon and wife, Natalie of Crockett, Dillon Shupak and wife, Tiffany of Austonio; great-grandchildren, Savannah and Everett Ross, Keelie, Kimber and Bryson Salmon, Tenley, Carson, Amelia and Milo Leos; niece, Fredia Hutcherson and husband, Bobby of Crockett; great-niece, Tracy Hutcherson of Houston; brother-law, Billy Eckles of Athens; numerous other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by wife, Jan Eckles Salmon; daughter-in-law, Laura Salmon; grandson, Dalton Shupak; mother, Alice Salmon; sister, Nelda Heath and husband, Hubert; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Vernon and Yvette Eckles; brother-in-law, Danny Eckles.

Graveside funeral services for Winsel Salmon were at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2021 at the Parker Cemetery in Grapeland. Visitation was at 2:00 p.m. prior to service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Moore, Frye, Eckles Scholarship Fund, c/o Susan Park, P. O. Box 1248, Crockett, TX 75835.
