Awrey was a Canadian pre-Azusa Pentecostal Missionary Evangelist. As a young man, he walked 1,000 miles throughout Texas, preaching on the baptism of the Holy Spirit, sanctification, and divine healing. In 1898, he joined the Fire Baptized Holiness Association and led evangelistic campaigns throughout the US and Canada. Upon news of the Azusa Revival, Awrey and his family moved to Los Angeles and became a popular Bible teacher with a special emphasis on teaching the five-fold ministry gifts and how to properly use them in biblical order. Sensing a call to global evangelism, Awrey ministered around the world. While ministering in Liberia, he succumbed to a fever and died. His burial location is unknown. Palm Grove Cemetery is an educated guess, according to Findagrave user #49009963.
