Ernest Z. Bennett received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1917 at Pittsburg State University. He received his master's degree (A. M.) in 1928 at the University of Chicago. Additional graduate work was completed at State University of Iowa in Iowa City during 1932.
Mr. Bennett was principal of Sedan, Kansas, High School from 1904 to 1908, superintendent of Schools in Severy, Kansas, from 1908-1911, superintendent of schools in Howard, Kansas, from 1911 to 1914, worked at the Pittsburg "Headlight-Sun" (local newspaper) from 1914 to 1916, joined the army and served as Director of the Department of Languages in Kellyville, Texas, and was an Instructor of Modern Languages at Newf-Chateau, France, from 1916 to 1917, instructor and Assistant Professor of French and Latin at Pittsburg State University from 1917 to 1922, Associate Professor of English Language and Literature, as well as in charge of publicity for the College and the "Collegio" (the campus newspaper) from 1922 to 1942.
He died at the age of 57.
