Age 100 of Saint Paul, MN Passed away on July 1, 2021 Alden was born in Ironwood, MI on April 30, 1921 to Edyth and Harry Allen. He attended the University of Minnesota. While at the University he enlisted in the Officer Training Corp when the US entered WWII. Graduating as an Aeronautical Engineer he attended Officer Training at Yale University and entered military service as a Lieutenant in the Army Air Corp serving in the USA and Italy. After military service, he worked at Glenn L Martin Aircraft Co. and ANSUL fire extinguisher company before landing at Univac (ERA group) initially on the intercept missile designs and early versions of modern computers where he remained for 31 years until his retirement in 1986. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, flying, hunting, boating, and traveling to airshows. Alden is survived by his wife Karina of 75 years; sons, Rick, Bruce (Anna) Kurt; daughter Julie (Wade Johnson); granddaughter Jennie (Jared) Green; grandsons Mike (Katrina) Allen, Matthew Allen and Christopher Allen; and great grand children Joshua and Jillian Green and Oliver and Arabella Allen; brother-in-law Leonard Vassbotn; nephews Lowell (Debra) Weber, Lance Weber and Jack (Jean) Allen; nieces Laurel (Dick) McConnell, Lynn Weber and Sara Merlin. He is preceded in death by his parents; his three brothers Bruce, Jack and Dale; daughter-in-law Kay Allen; nephew Brad Allen; brother-in-law Dr. Lowell Weber; and sisters-in-law Mary Lou Allen, Lois Vassbotn and Lillian Weber. Due to COVID, a Memorial service is not planned at this time. In lieu of Memorial and flowers, donations can be made to Lyngblomsten Care Center or a charity of your choice.
