American Child Actress. She was most famous for portraying several different minor characters in the 'Our Gang' short films from 1930 to 1935. She was the real-life younger sister of Matthew "Stymie" Beard, who got her in the series. She was first to portray a character named "Buckwheat," but she was not the only "Buckwheat" in the series. The role was later taken over by Willie Mae Taylor , and then William Thomas Jr.. Among the episoides she appeared in were 'Shiver My Timbers,' 'Readin' And Writin',' 'Birthday Blues' and 'For Pete's Sake!' After Our Gang, she became a dancer and traveled for many years as a personal assistant to musician Lionel Hampton.
