Nadine Cleckler passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at the age of 94. A longtime resident of Austin, Texas, she raised her family and touched so many lives through her devoted work at her church and her love of gathering with relatives and friends. She moved to El Paso, Texas two and half years ago to be near her daughter and daughter's family in El Paso. Originally from Edwards County, Texas, she traveled far and wide, but put roots down in Austin in 1949 with her husband Harvey Charles (Chuck) Cleckler, buying their first home on Avenue F. Five years later she moved again, into the north Austin suburb of Crestland, where she would remain for 63 years until 2019. Growing up on a ranch gave her ambitions to move to the city and pursue her passions of writing and travel. She treasured her family and friends and kept every letter, card, invitation and photo that she collected over 7 decades in central Texas. While studying business in San Antonio, Nadine met and fell in love with Harvey Charles Cleckler. They were married when he returned home from the Navy and the Pacific campaign. In next few years she had her first son Charles Junior and decided to leave her hometown of Rocksprings, Texas, to embark on their lifetime of travel. She was a talented seamstress and would eventually sew gowns for proms and weddings. As a tireless Avon products representative she made the national Avon's Presidents list year after year. A longtime member and supporter of Crestview Methodist Church she relished the quilting club and hosting family reunions and gatherings of friends in the church's fellowship hall. She loved traveling across our great country from Oregon to Wisconsin to New York to Mississippi, and she didn't stop until her late eighties when she and her second husband Douglas Murphy decided it was time to stay closer to home. She was preceded in death by her first husband Harvey Charles, her second husband Douglas Murphy, and her first son Charles Jr. She is survived by two brothers; William (Bill) Seale and Grant Seale, two children; Chris David Cleckler and Casee Anderson, five grandchildren; Eric Cleckler, James and Brian Anderson, David Cleckler and Anne Marie Wise, and three great-grandchildren, Katherine, Cassie and Nicole Cleckler, and three step children from her second marriage; Brenda Dees, and Robert and Michael Murphy.
