Records show that Griffith James and his wife were living at the home of their son-in-law Samuel Dean just prior to their respective deaths. Griffith signed his last will and testament on April 20, 1795 and listed his residence as the Dean's home in Pendleton County (Now Anderson County) South Carolina. The will was 'proved' in April of 1796. It is believed he passed in the autumn of 1795 and was buried in the Dean Family Cemetery. Griffith's wife Mary, was listed as living in the Samuel Dean house as late as 1817. She does not appear in the 1820 census. It is presumed she passed sometime after 1817 and was likely buried next to her husband in the Dean Family Cemetery.
