Phyllis Ann Hunt
Phyllis Ann (Jason) Hunt, 77, passed away June 6, 2021, at the Californian Assisted Living Facility in Woodland, Calif. She had managed multiple severe physical problems for a number of years but finally succumbed to end stage kidney disease.

Phyllis was born in El Reno on Feb. 4, 1944, to William and Dorothy Jason. She was an only child and lived with her mother in El Reno until the age of 15 when the two moved to Sacramento, Calif. She graduated from Norte Del Rio High School in 1962 and attended a local program in cosmetology.

She was employed at several beauty salons until 1980 when she became a clerk and eventually a supervisor at Blue Shield in Woodland, where she lived the past 47 years.

Phyllis was a giving person and fiercely independent. She made many road trips by herself to visit family and friends in Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, Kansas, Washington and Oregon. As recently as two years ago, she made a 7,000-mile solo trip to the Midwest.

Phyllis was a fantastic baker and candy maker. She was known for her desserts at work, in the family and in the community.

Phyllis is survived by daughter-in-law, Jevelle Hunt, and granddaughter, Desiree in southern California; one uncle, Delman (Linda) Bloom of Lawton; Charlie, whom she cared for as an infant and beyond, becoming like a grandson to her; and numerous cousins and friends.

Two special friends, Connie Ehresman and Helen Buchholz, were with her to the end, caring for her, taking her to doctor appointments and helping her with home and business matters, allowing her to remain longer in the comfort of her own home.

The greatest loss of Phyllis' life was the death of her only child, son, Casey, at the age of 31 in 2007. Although she valiantly went on with the support of family, friends and a grieving parents support group, Phyllis was never quite the same after losing Casey.

She was also preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Bloom Jason, who died in 1977, grandparents and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

Family requests that memorials in her name be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date when family members can be present.
