William C. Tilden
Dr. William C. Tilden died at his home in Stanwood Wednesday, June 4, 1941, after an illness of several months. He was 70 years old. He was born in Manchester in 1870 and came with his parents to Ames when a small boy. He attended Iowa State College in Ames from which he graduated in 1898 and obtained his medical degree from the State University of Iowa [now the University of Iowa] in Iowa City. In 1902 he established himself immediately at Stanwood, where he has practiced since. He was married in 1903 to Florence Walker. A brother, Dr. Julius Tilden of Charles City, two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Poole of Ames and Mrs. E.C. Macy of Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, survive him.
