George B Vest Sr., 70, of Monroe City, passed away at 2:22 pm Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, MO.

Friends and Family are invited to George's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday June 29, 2021 at James O'Donnell Life Celebration Home in Monroe City, MO.

A Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday June 30, 2021 at James O'Donnell Life Celebration Home in Monroe City. Pastor Daniel Miller will officiate. Burial will be at St. Jude's Cemetery in Monroe City, MO.

George was born July 31, 1950, in Denver, CO to George B. Sr. and Erma Plumb Vest. He was married to Mary Haddock on March 31, 1995 in Jasper Arkansas.

Other survivors include his 4 sons, George B. Vest Jr. of Kerrville, TX, James R Vest (Trasey) of Broseley, MO, Stanley E. Vest of Broseley, MO and Jeffery M Vest of Poplar Bluff, MO; 4 daughters Teena R. Vest of Broseley, MO, Kerie M. Amsden (Bryan) of Bellevue, NE, Nichole L. Lawson (Daniel) of Papillion, NE, and Sarah N. Sullivan (Donald) of Hannibal, MO; brothers Larry Johnson Jr. of Dallas, Tx.; brother in-law, David Johnston of Licking, MO; sister in-law Marilyn Lowe of Farmington, MO, special sister in-law Rose Judy (Les); 28 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Special mention of his beloved special pet, "Sobriety Berton Vest" man's best friend.

George was preceded in death by his Parents, 1 son Earnest Wayne Vest, 2 brothers Bill Vest and Gary Lowe, 3 sisters, Pam Vest, Judy Johnston, and Linda Sanders and 1 niece Kristie Ice.

George worked as a Heating and Air Tech, a Substance Abuse Counselor and as a Carpenter. George was "old school" in that he liked older shows such as Western's with Clint Eastwood and John Wayne, vintage Star trek and Andy Griffith were also among his favorites. An outdoorsman, he would fish any lake for catfish and enjoyed "tent" camping, only using electricity for the coffee pot or radio. Above all else, he cherished his family and time spent making memories with them.

George was a Christian by Faith.

Pallbearers will be James Vest, Calvin Vest, Joshua Vest, Larry Johnston Jr., George B Vest Jr., and Stanley Vest.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Sullivan, Daniel Lawson, and Bryan Amsden.
