Riggie P. Petrella, 86, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away Monday June 28, 2021 at Lancia Villa Royale in Steubenville, OH.

He was born June 21, 1935 in Mingo Junction, OH a son of the late John and Josephine (Farfalla) Petrella. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (Dunn) Petrella; six brothers, John, James "Sassy", Mario, Frank, Louis "Gino" and Daniel "Dan" Petrella; and one sister, Lucy Stanic.

Riggie retired in 1997 from the 80 inch at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Riggie was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. He was the former owner of the Avalon in Mingo and a fan of both the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes.

Surviving are a brother, Anthony "Pinky" Petrella of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction, on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Military Honors by the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad will take place at 1:00 p.m. and funeral services will follow with Fr. James M. Dunfee, officiating. Private inurnment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville.
