Sybil Fern Scott, 98, was born in Denison, Texas on May 10, 1922. She passed from this life on March 19th. She was the first of 5 children born to Joe and Essie McDaniel Hughes. She grew up on a farm west of Minco and married Virgil Scott after highschool. They were the parents of two daughters, Linda Raikes and Virginia Meek, both of them now deceased. They were members of the Minco Church of Christ until the death of her husband. Her later years were spent in Chickasha, where she attended the Southern Oaks Church of Christ. She was very talented and showed her beautiful crafts at craft shows around the state.

Sybil was preceded in death by her husband Virgil Scott; daughters Virginia Meek and Linda Raikes; grandson Scott Meek; parents Joe and Essie Hughes; brothers Everett Hughes, Clifton Hughes and Clyde Hughes; half-brother Billy Hughes and half-sister Beulah Fry.

Sybil is survived by grandson David Meek; great-granddaughter Heather Downing; brother Russell Hughes and wife Delores; sister-in-law Allene Hughes and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A private family graveside will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Minco. Memorial contributions may be made to the Minco Church of Christ or the Southern Oaks Church of Christ. Service is under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.
