Carl Garvin of Diana passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at the age of 85. Carl was born January 27, 1925 in Guardian, WV, to the late Albert and Bertha (Hall) Garvin.

Carl was a life long resident of Webster County; he was a Protestant by faith, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Carl was a UMWA member and he also served in the Navy for three years.

Carl is preceded into death by his parents, one son; Jerry Bugs Garvin, four brothers; Charles, Mike, Doil, and Ray, and three sisters; Auda, Bonnie, and Opal.

Carl is survived by his wife Lorene (Hamrick) Garvin of Diana, three Sons; David (Marlene) Garvin of Canton, OH, Garry (Marsha) Garvin of Gassaway, WV, and Randy (Burna) Garvin of Cleveland, WV, eight daughters; Patricia Hayhurst & Robert Weeks of Jane Lew, WV, Sharon Garvin & James Pugh of Webster Springs, Carolyn (Daniel) Westfall of Diana, Debbie (Kenney) Lough of Webster Springs, Barbra Garvin of Ft. Worth, TX, Brenda (Lanny) McIe of Webster Springs, Marilyn Garvin of Diana, and Donna Garvin & Mike Hines of Diana, one brother; Denzil of Guardian, and two sisters; Letha Cook of Ohio, and Erma Sharp also of Ohio. Carl also had 27 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Friends will be received Sunday, October 17, 2010 from 6-9 pm at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home in Webster Springs. Services will be held Monday, October 18, 2010 at 11 am with Rev. Curt Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Hamrick Cemetery in Webster Springs. Dodd & Reed Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
