Oliver L. Johnson 97 of Rapid City passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at Good Samaritan St. Martins.

Oliver was born August 16, 1923, in Vale, SD. He was the fifth child of Peter and Pearl (Casteel) Johnson. He lived on the family farm near Vale until 1948 when he married Ardelle Owens.
Oliver and Ardelle had two children Gary and Eileen (Grant). They farmed near Vale and Piedmont. In 1965 they purchased the Johnson Motel in south Raid City which they operated until retirement. After trying retirement for a couple of years, Oliver decided to go back to work and spent many years delivering flowers. He loved the work because people were always glad to see him.
Oliver passion was his family gatherings, especially at holidays. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren and in the last few months delighted in getting to know his three great-great grandchildren.
Oliver is survived by his daughter Eileen (James) Grant, 6 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Oliver is preceded in death by his wife Ardelle, son Gary, parents, 1 sister, 3 brothers.
