Gary M Arnett, 80, of Huntsville, passed away Friday, June 18, 2021. Mr. Arnett was born in Clay County, KS and graduated from Clay Center High School in 1958. Upon graduation from Pitt State with a Masters degree in Physics, Mr Arnett began his career with NASA. From 1963-85, he served as Research Scientist, Branch Chief and Payload Engineer. He helped perfect protective surfaces that are still in use today. Mr Arnett was involved with military preparedness and legendary space exploration. He was an accomplished athlete in football and basketball. He coached youth sports. He was past president of Grissom High School Booster Club. Survivors include his wife, Julia Arnett, son, Blake Arnett(Lynn) of NC, 8 grandchildren, sister, Jeanne Arnett, and brother Gail Arnett. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mervin and Alta Arnett, children, Kevin M. Arnett, and Kari Gaskin, and grandchildren, Luke Arnett, and Liliana Arnett. A small memorial service was held June 22, 2021, at Hospice Family Care Facility Chapel, with Chaplain Anthony Ford officiating.
