Jackson Robert "Bobby" Bennett, Jr., 74, of Yemassee SC, entered into eternal rest on June 16, 2021.

Born on November 27,1946 in Charleston SC, Bobby was the son of the late Jackson Robert Sr. and Ruth Brooks Bennett.

From a young age Bobby was fascinated by automobiles. His interest in the theory, design, construction, testing and maintenance led him to become a founding member of the "Third Member" Car Club of Charleston.

Collecting cars was a lifelong hobby. In conversation Bobby would always refer to friends and acquaintances by their name along with the make, model, color and engine size of the car or truck they drove.

Bobby was a graduate of Garrett High School class of 1966 and lovingly referred to it as "the greatest class ever".

Following High School Bobby added Martial Arts to his interests becoming an expert, having studied under Albert C. Church Jr.

Professionally he worked as an engineer on F-18 Flight Simulators on Beaufort Naval Air Station and most recently on Charleston Air Force Base as the Lead Engineer/Supervisor for the C-17 Flight Simulator Program. Bobby was very proud of the work he did contributing to the Navy and Air Force Flying Missions.

Bobby was preceded in death by his devoted wife Deborah Sue (Wilds) Bennett. He is survived by two brothers, Charles Anthony "Tony" Bennett of Moncks Corner, SC and Thomas David Bennett (Debra) of Dallastown, PA along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Bobby will be remembered as strong, opinionated, smart witted, short tempered and generous to a fault and he liked eating at the Waffle House.

PS He never turned away a stray cat or person in need, making sure they were cared for and never went away hungry.

He will be missed!

The family will receive friends for a visitation and funeral service on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at 10 AM at McAlister-Smith, West Ashley, 2501 Bees Ferry Rd, Charleston, SC 29414.

The burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Ave North Charleston, SC 29406.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bobby's memory may be sent to The American Heart Association.
