P.W. Tripp, 94, "the original Tripp", of Turkey, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at Grace Church, 4111 Plains Blvd. with Pastors Bill Gehm and Doug Gehm officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Monday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM (MDT) Wednesday at South Park Cemetery in Roswell, New Mexico.

Tripp was born May 3, 1927 in Mill Creek, Oklahoma to Joe and Pearl Tripp.

He grew up doing ranch work in Oklahoma with his family. The family moved from Mill Creek to Roswell, New Mexico when Tripp was 13 years old. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy toward the end of WWII from 1945-1946.

Tripp married the love of his life, Mary Nell Melton on March 15, 1950 in Roswell. They enjoyed 50 years of marriage until Mary Nell's passing in 2000. Tripp started the original Tripp's Harley Davidson dealership in Roswell, opening on January 1, 1956. In 1963, Tripp moved the dealership to Amarillo. He retired in 1986, and went back to work on his ranch, the Circle T Ranch in Turkey, Texas. In his spare time, Tripp enjoyed fishing and hunting in El Capitan, New Mexico. He loved Bob Wills music and also enjoyed mariachi music.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the Turkey Volunteer Fire Dept. and all the people of Turkey for helping and looking after Tripp. They would also like to thank the staff at the VAMC Community Living Center, especially Carissa (Tripp's special assistant), for their special care of Tripp.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Nell Tripp; his daughter, Cathy Tripp; and seven siblings.

Survivors include a son, Terry Tripp and wife Laura of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Christy Rowley and husband Jeff, Jason Tripp, Carrie Brown and husband Tra, and Felicia Bacon all of Amarillo; five great-grandchildren, Tripp Rowley, Trace Rowley, Noah Seymore, Mary Nell Tripp, and Reece Brown; his girlfriend, Connie Fuentes of the home; and his longtime friend, Isabel Coria.

The family suggests memorials may be made to the Turkey Volunteer Fire Department.
