Paul Lindquist, age 79, of Ohio, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2018, with family at his side, following a lengthy illness.
A memorial service is taking place Saturday, Dec 8 at Lewisburg UMC, Lewisburg, OH at 3 p.m. Donations can be made to the Preble County Food Bank in Paul's name in lieu of flowers.
Paul is survived by his wife, Karen; his children, Justina, Shelly, Pam, Kathy, and James; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Gloria and Frances; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edith and Levi; his brothers, Vernon, Lawrence, Elmer and Bob; his sister, Myrtle Breitholtz; and his children, Debbie and Bill.
Paul had a master's degree in mechanical engineering. He was a farmer for 40 years, and worked for the USAF for 33 years on projects from the SDI and early ion engines, to acoustic fatigue in aircraft.
He was very active, serving on both the local and Preble County school board, and was a critical part of the formation of the Tri-County North School District. He also served on the financial board for WIMPL, as the president of the Preble County Council on Aging, and in addition, headed the AARP tax program.
Paul was honored as Senior Citizen of the Year in 2010, and held many positions in the square dance and round dance community. He was the treasurer of Curli Q's Dance Club, and with Karen, became the MVDC honor couple.
Paul became a polar bear by swimming in the Arctic Ocean, climbed Machu Picchu, and became a life master in the game of bridge. He served as a Stephen's minister, and sang in many church choirs.
Paul lived and trusted his life in God's hands. We can hear these words being said, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
