Arnold Joseph Neusch, 95 of Canyon, died June 17, 2021.
Rosary was said on Sunday, June 20, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Amarillo. Funeral mass was celebrated on Monday, June 21, 2021 at the church. Interment followed in St. Francis Cemetery, with arrangements by Schooler Funeral Home of Amarillo.

Arnold was born on June 13, 1926 to Mary Huseman and William Neusch at their home near St. Francis. He attended school at St. Francis and Price College in Amarillo. He was drafted on his 18th birthday and fought in World War II as an Army Infantryman in the Pacific Theater. He completed his tour of duty for the Army of Occupation in Korea.

He married Ida Kuhles on July 5, 1949. They had six children and raised them on the farm. Being a lifelong dryland farmer, he always asked "how much rain you got." He worked at Pantex for 28 years to make ends meet with the challenges of farming and raising cattle and hogs.

Arnold served on the school board at Highland Park for many years and was a volunteer firefighter for Potter County.

He was an active parishioner at St. Francis Catholic Church and became a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church when he moved to Canyon later in life. He loved his faith and passed that love on to all his children. He was a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and was a key part of the Lenten fish fries at St. Francis.

He was an avid outdoorsman whether hunting, fishing or just enjoying scenic views. He was a caretaker at Bauer Lake in Colorado for many years, and he and Ida spent countless summers in Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ida of 71 years; his son Larry; brothers, Herman and Ralph; and sisters, Rita and Rosemary.

He is survived by his children, Ronnie and wife Linda of Panhandle, Sandy and husband, Norman Sanders of Amarillo, John and wife Karla of Amarillo, Darlene and husband, Fidelis Fetsch Jr. of Canyon and Nancy Neusch of Hereford; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

The family requests memorials to American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell Street, Amarillo TX 79109 and Family Support Services Veteran's Resource Center, 7136 I-40 Frontage Road Park West, Building B, Amarillo, TX 79106.
