Betty Lyons Walker Morse, entered into peaceful rest at her home in Clintondale on Monday, Feb. 25, 2008 surrounded by her husband and children.

Betty has graced our lives for 78 years. The daughter of the late Martin E. Lyons and Eva M Scott, she was born on April 18, 1929 in Milton, NY. She graduated from Marlborough High School and earned her Bachelor's Degree from New Paltz Teachers College. She taught elementary school until she met and married William H. Walker in 1954. She was widowed In 1994. Betty is survived by her husband, LeRoy Morse of Clintondale.

Betty was a most loved and valuable asset to our community. She was a teacher, a Girl Scout leader, a Sunday School teacher, Vice President of the Highland School District Board of Education and the first women Fire Commissioner of the Clintondale Fire District. Betty was the founder and first owner of radio station WBWZ ("Star 93 FM"). She served many other community organizations, was an election inspector and most of all a "farmer". She planted seeds to all she met. Betty will be loved and missed by many friends and her family: children, William H. Walker (wife Yvonne) of Lincolnville, ME; and Janet Walker Robertson (husband Daniel) of Ocala, FL; loving nephew, Martin D. Lyons (wife Carol, children Martin D. Betty dedicated her heart and energy to promoting support of those serving in our nation's military. She was a living example of unconditional love; devoted to the education of every child.
