Opal was a homemaker. Her husband, John, was a Justice of the Peace for St. Louis County, Missouri. He eventually became the Chief of Police in Jennings, Missouri in north St. Louis County.

At the time of her death, Opal was 77 years, 10 months and 20 days old.

She was survived by 1 son and 1 daughter-in-law, John J. and Margaret Obertz; 1 grandson; 1 sister-in-law; and extended family members and friends.

In addition to her mother and father, Opal was preceded in death by her husband, John, who passed away on 09 Oct 1979.

Visitation was held on 17 Sep 1982 at the John Stygar and Son Chapel on Halls Ferry Road in north St. Louis County, Missouri. Funeral services were conducted there at 11 a.m. the following morning.
