No evidence that Caroline is actually buried here but it seems plausible this would be her final resting place. Also, no definitive birth or death dates were found.

Caroline is believed to be the daughter of John and Milly Willis Mace of Greene County, Tennessee. John first married Polly Brown in Greene County, TN., 11/26/1805 and then married Milly Willis 11/1/1830 in Greene County. John probably died in 1839 (see his Will). Milly then married Joseph Davis 6/12/1844 in Greene County.

"May 15, 1795 John Mase was mentioned in a Greene County (Territory South of the Ohio River) Power of Attorney from Joseph Ramsey to John Willoughby. The action involved the land on which John Mase was then residing and which Ramsey had subjected to a Warrant. John Mase had secured all rights to the property from Ramsey.The attorney John Willoughby was instructed to write a deed of transfer for the property if the Warrant was successful. 1809-1810, John was living in Captain Joseph Kirk's District in Greene County, Tennessee with 104 acres of land located on waters of Lick Creek. [Greene County Tennessee Tax Digests 1809-1817, Goldene Fillers Burgner, Page 5, 43].

1815, John was living in Captain Joseph Kirk's District in Greene County, Tennessee with 54 acres of land located on Gap Creek. [Greene County Tennessee Tax Digests 1809-1817, Goldene Fillers Burgner, Page 197].

1816, John was living in Captain Thomas Self's District in Greene County, Tennessee with no land. [Greene County Tennessee Tax Digests 1809-1817, Goldene Fillers Burgner, Page 220].

May 15, 1820 John witnessed the deed transfer in Greene County between Thomas Frazier and David Brown for 106 acres of land located on east side of Gap Creek and on old corner with Elijah Willoughby. [Greene County, Tennessee Deed Abstracts, 1810-1822, Joyce Martin Murray, Page 117].

1830, John was living in Captain McPheron's Company in Greene County, Tennessee with 60 acres of land. [Greene County, Tennessee Guardians and Orphans Court Records, 1783-1870 and 1830 Tax List, Sandra Kelton Houston, Page 111].

July 15, 1839 John wrote his Will and mentioned wife Milly and "my children". Executors named were Milly Mace and William Willoughby, witnessed by James G. Guthrie and Henry Mase. [Greene County, Tennessee Wills, 1783-1890, Goldene Fillers Burgner Page 54]."
