Daily Gazette & Bulletin 5/5/1887
Margaret Traveler the woman who was taken from Piatt township on Sunday last & placed in the the jail is one of the most unfortunate women. When she was in a dying state & with assistance was able to talk somewhat rationally. She claimed she was poisoned by some workers on the Pine Creek Railroad. A representative from the Gazette & Bulletin visited her yesterday. She was sitting, smoking a clay pipe. She was in bad shape.
She said she lived in Safe Harbor with her brother-in-law Lorenzo Vanemon. He sent me down there with his daughter tp the workers shed. They had beer there & she was there for 3 days.
She said her husband lives in Safe Harbor he has taken my 4 children from me. She was born in Mehoopany on 4/6/1848, my maiden name was Wadell.
Mrs. Traveler seemed to suffer from insanity.
She was the daughter of Gilroy & Susan (Rogers) Wadell Later in 1890 she died at Danville State Hospital & her body was sent to an anatomical board.
Back in those days people didn't have a lot of information about Mental Heath Diseases or other behavioral problems.
Her sister Anna Wadell is buried in the Jersey Shore Cemetery.
