Charles E. Angell, 94, formerly of West Warwick and Stuart, FL., passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Ethan Place Assisted Living in Warwick, RI, where he was loved and exceptionally well cared for. He was the husband of Lucille J. (Robert) Angell for 60 memorable years until her passing in 2012.

On May 20, 1927 in Cranston, RI, Charles was born the son to the late Leonard E. and Elizabeth (Collins) Angell.

Charles proudly served his country in the Navy during World War II. He was a retired U.S. Navy Reserve Chief Boatswain's mate.

He was later employed at the U.S. Naval Station at Quonset Point and had a successful career as a mechanic.

Charlie loved all outdoor adventures and activities, especially camping in many National Parks across the U.S., swimming, hiking and bicycling. He also loved his 20 years at Natalie Estates in Stuart, Florida where he leaves behind so many treasured friendships. Paramount to all, his greatest passion and talent was writing and telling stories.

He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Free and Accepted Masons. He was a member and past master of Overseas Lodge #40 F&AM of Cranston, a member of St. John's Lodge #1 F&AM of Providence, an honorary member of Ionic Lodge # 28 F&AM of Coventry and a member of Roger Williams Lodge #32 F&AM of East Providence. He was also a member of the concordant bodies of Freemasonry, Scottish Rite and the RI Shriners. Charles was past Grand Lecturer and Grand Marshall for the Grand Lodge in Rhode Island. He was also a member of the VFW 449 American Legion in West Warwick and the Fleet Reserve Association.

His family, faith and comradery gave him all the provisions he needed in life. In his 94 years, Charles grew to be a wonderful man, husband, father, grandfather and brother. His love will live on his four children: Karen Cole of CA, Lynne Gauvin and her husband Alfred of Hope, RI, Robert Angell of CA and Gary Angell of WA; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by four siblings: Marion Angell, Mildred Spinnett, Doris Herford and Leonard F. Angell.

Calling hours and funeral with Masonic Service were held at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick, RI on Tuesday, June 15 Burial with military honors at the RI Veterans Cemetery in Exeter was private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Beacon Hospice Care 1130 Ten Rod Rd Suite. A205 North Kingstown, RI 02852 or to Ethan Place, 85 Ethan St Warwick, RI 02888.
